A native of New York City and educated at Pratt Institute, Michael Cooper (1949 - 2010) began his career as a graphic designer and illustrator.
Michael’s first solo exhibition of found object collages was held at O.K. Harris Gallery in 1976. Many group shows followed.
After 2001, Michael was represented by Pavel Zoubok Gallery. His collages are in the permanent collection of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY, The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, as well as numerous private collections.
Michael Cooper is also included in the collection of the International Collage Center internationalcollage.org.
