Marion Passal

A gifted, Naive artist, born in New York City in 1913, painted figures and still lifes on 1/4 inch masonite boards, measuring no more than 6"x 8”.

Our curated collection of her stylized images of women and children, depicting everyday life, are characterized by bright, strong colors and highly detailed images. Her obituary in 2003 reports that she loved painting friends' children.

Naïve artists are sometimes referred to as modern primitives. The category also overlaps with what is called "Outsider Art."
